Doberman Fields

Thank you for your interest in Doberman Fields'

*
We are a small family and "Hobby Breeder", located in the lower Hudson Valley region of New York.   We, including our children, grandchildren, eight dogs, two cats, and our Bearded Dragon "Toothless", enjoy our happy,  sometimes loud but ALWAYS loving family home.

*
We are PROUD, Active Members of the following AKC and UKC Organizations:
DPCA (2017), UDC (2016), DPCTZ (2016), MNYKC (2017), MHKA (2017),  Associate Members of Upstate Kennel Club (2016), ADCNYS (2018), Take the Lead
*

We began our entry into the world of breeding in 2014.  In 2015 - under the ownership and direction of an established Doberman Breeder -  produced three litters from jointly owned dams and their sires. That breeder had become our friend--as well as our first introduction to the wonderful world of creating and sharing our Dobermans with others.  Sadly, the business and personal relationship deteriorated and we have since parted ways.  As the few years passed by, and our knowledge grew, our goals and purpose for breeding begin to conflict with the breeder's standards and goals.  Coupled with financial and contract issues with the 3 litters we whelped for them, it was mutually decided we would not breed for them again.
*
Our family's commitment is to meet AND exceed the DPCA (Doberman Pinscher Club of America) and OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) standards and  guidelines for the "responsible breeding"  of our beloved breed for the TOTAL Doberman. Its more than a promise to the Doberman breed, it's our commitment.  You will always find proof of our ongoing health testing, screening, and lab results on our OFA Certificates & Lab Work pages for EACH of our Dobermans in our breeding program.  Vet records and other information on our NON breeding canine and feline family members are kept and on file, but not published here on our website.
*
We believe our breeding program has the knowledge and information, as well as the heart, drive and dedication, to produce healthy, well-bred Dobermans AKC, UKC, and DPCA Breed Standards demand, the TOTAL Doberman. We also hope that by sharing ALL of our heath test results, whether OFA/DPCA recommended or not, you will learn to look for these tests and results in ALL Doberman Breeders.  We want you to know WHY such intensive screening, records keeping, and public access to the breeder's records (AND being able to prove those records are accurate and honest) are SO vital to the health, well-being, and promise of tomorrow's Doberman.  Doberman Fields' believes no matter who your chosen breeder is, an educated and responsible buyer is equally important and necessary to protect, preserve, improve, and promote the TOTAL Doberman Breed we all hold so dear.
*
Our family is committed to producing only the BEST Doberman Puppies for only the BEST Doberman homes.  Our passion and drive is for the TOTAL Doberman; protection, preservation AND the betterment of the entire breed for today AND tomorrow.  Titles and Champion bloodlines are worthless if that bloodline is tainted with genetic issues and young deaths.  A beautiful, well stacked, perfectly conforming Doberman that is produced by untested and sickly parents is doomed to leave our hearts broken FAR too soon. A pup from FULLY health tested parents and Longevity in their pedigrees that lacks the proper temperament of our breed is equally detrimental to our Dobermans' future!  We have and will continue to made EVERY effort humanly possible to ensure that our Dobermans are TOTAL Dobermans, healthy, proper temperaments and within AKC, UKC, and DPCA Standard size and looks.
*
Prior to breeding, our Dobermans are health tested and screened in accordance with the OFA and DPCA Standards.  We include several other OFA health and screening tests/certs not included on DPCA's "Responsible Breeders Requirements". Each Doberman has their own page here on our website which lists the health tests and screenings done to date, as well as the planned completion date of the age appropriate tests not yet done.  We also have a page for each Doberman that shows ALL the OFA Certificates verifying these tests AND a link to the OFA's website for verification of the information we give you here.  There is also a page for each Doberman's lab results from our vet (past, and present) for blood and urinalysis which shows kidney, liver, pancreas AND the overall health of our dogs, which is above and beyond the DPCA and OFA Health and Screening Requirements and standards. We want you to be secure in the knowledge we are doing what is right for the Doberman AND you, as well as to provide you information and education on what to look for and demand of any Doberman Breeder you look at.
*
Prior to breeding, our Dobermans earn AKC and/or UKC titles to prove to that our Dobermans have the temperament and working ethics famous to this breed. While Covid has put a stop to most all training and events from 2020 to present, we are committed to continuing this practice once these venues open up, and our safety and health are no longer a concern.  ANY stud/dam bred  in 2020 and throughout the pandemic restrictions without temperament and/or working titles WILL be brought up to date with our PRE-Covid title standardsWe are fully aware of how awesome all our Dobermans are.  Going through all the training, going to all the various AKC and UKC Events, earning points and titles, and adding public records for these accomplishments prove it.   We began our first ever entry in the world of training and competition with a focus on Rally, Agility, Obedience, and even Therapy!! Our Dobermans are our family, and even after breeding they will continue professional training and competition.
*
Through our years of learning, planning, building, and working on our breeding program,  we offer fully health tested and titled Sires and Dams to produce the BEST Doberman puppies for only the best Doberman homes.  We require a completed Puppy/Dog Application on file prior to consideration for puppy purchase.  This enables us to match the needs and wants of the purchaser to the puppy to ensure a FOREVER placement.  We will always support our chosen applicants/buyers.  We provide the promise of a forever commitment to our puppies and their families, and will always offer a return arrangement for any pups from our litters in our contracts. All puppies will be sold on a Limited AKC registration and a sole UKC registration UNLESS PRIOR  APPROVAL FOR FULL REGISTRATION IS REQUESTED  BY THE BUYER *AND* APPROVED BY DF LLC.  Our sales contracts will include a spay/neuter obligation on the part of the buyer to be performed between 18 and 24 months of age, excludes Full Registration Sales.  All puppy buyers will be required to obtain a CGC (Canine Good Citizen) title for their puppy by one-year-old.  Buyers with limited access and/or knowledge of appropriate training facilities will be happily assisted with their search for a perfect match for them AND their new family member.  All puppy buyers will be encouraged to join their local Chapter Club of the DPCA as well as their UKC Chapter Clubs, local AKC All Breed Clubs and Local 4H Dog Classes for families with children for community support and activities to enhance the quality of life of their Doberman AND their efforts and support of our breed overall.
*
Our position regarding the Albino "white" Doberman is in compliance with and supports the DPCA's policy regarding this trait in Dobermans.  The DPCA has determined that the albinistic trait in the Doberman is deleterious (causing harm or damage) to the breed and should be considered a disqualifying genetic fault (this is described in the DPCA Standard and Code of Ethics).  We support DPCA's position discouraging breeders from allowing this trait to spread and any animal coded with "W" as the first two letters of it's AKC registration should NOT be breed; including Albino/white Dobermans and their parents/litter mates.  AKC prohibits Albino/white Dobermans from Conformation shows, which also excludes them from being a part of the TOTAL Doberman. You can read more about the Albino/white Doberman history at DPCA's Website.  It's also a great opportunity to explore the only Official Doberman AKC Parent Club and learn more about our bred, traits of a responsible breeder, AND qualities of a responsible Doberman owner as well!

09/28/2022 Congratulations to all the Approved families for our F Litter.  We are honored to add you to our family and look forward to the many years to come with you all!
**
07/2022 - We have retired "Chaser" from our breeding line up.  At his age --eleven years old--, we have made the decision to protect his health and well being above ALL, and he happily remains with us as our perpetual pup!!
Azurite (Chaser/Legacy 2018) is now our Sire.  Going forward, we will only produce BLACK/RUST pups.  Azurite does not carry the recessive gene (B locus) needed to produce Red coats and we do not breed for Blue and Fawn Coats.
Thank you !!

*
Congratulations to Crystal on Passing her WAE!!
We participated in the event Hosted by Quaker City DPC and co-hosted by Tappen Zee DPC on 09/15/2018!!  While Chaser ROCKED the evaluation, he did NOT pass due to two handler errors (neutral stranger and x-pen).  Jewel showed her strong bond and Obedience training by remaining with her handler and favorite human, Jim, and did NOT pass due to her disinterest in the hidden object and threatening stranger.  We WILL be working on the human errors that we made and having them both re-evaluted SOON!

Exciting update, as of June 2017, we now own our own brand new DR-200 Holter Monitor AND K9 Vest, from Alba Medical, and are ready to complete the last of our 2017 "to-do" Breed Screening/Health Test.  This is an important goal for ALL Doberman owners, NOT just breeders, to Holter and do Echo's for your Doberman(s) at LEAST once a year!!  While no DNA, Echo or Holter test for Cardio Health is capable of predicting the future heart health, constant monitoring and testing CAN make the difference in your Dobermans future!!  Have a heart - Holter and Echo your Dobermans at least yearly!!

Thank you for your interest in Doberman Fields' LLC and remember to check back often to see our updates!!
